Dr. Gregory Simmons

Find out about Dr. Simmons’ family history with medicine as well as what he thinks is the greatest reward of working in medicine.

Meet Dr. Gregory Simmons of Orthopedics.

Why did you choose the field of medicine?

His father was an orthopedic surgeon, and his grandfather and great-grandfather were also physicians. Dr. Simmons also had a great-uncle and uncle who were physicians. So, there was just a long line of medical professionals in his family, and he never thought there would be anything else he would do.

Why did you choose orthopedic surgery?

He likes orthopedic surgery because it deals more with the physical aspects of a person more than any illness. He likes that it gets people moving.

What do you enjoy most about working with patients?

The biggest reward of this profession is watching people get better. It also doesn’t mean they need surgery…it could be injections, therapy, or something else.

How did growing up in the Belleville area influence your practice?

Since his father was an orthopedic surgeon here, he felt lucky he was able to follow in those footsteps, which allowed him to get active in the profession very quickly. He also enjoys practicing where he grew up and being able to serve that community.

What do you like to do outside of the office?

In the summer, he is an avid gardener, and in the winter, he enjoys cooking more. He likes both because they are scientific and artistic hobbies.
